Accademia Nazionale di Medicina (AccMed) is a non-profit scientific association that has been involved in the training and updating of healthcare professionals since 1991. In 1994 it was recognized by the Ministry of Health as an 'institution suitable for providing technical-scientific consultancy regarding the updating and information of doctors on drugs', while in 1995 the Ministry of Education, University and Research recognized AccMed’s legal personality. AccMed is National CME Provider No. 31, founding member of the European Federation of Medical Academies (FEAM), represents Italy in the health and medicine section of the InterAcademy Partnership (IAP ), which brings together 149 academies from all over the world, and is a partner of the Unitelma Sapienza online university.

FEAM is the Federation of European Academies of Medicine, AccMed is a founder and a member.

The mission of the FEAM is to promote cooperation at European level between the National Academies of Medicine, Pharmacy and Veterinary Medicine, or the medical division of National Academies; to provide them with a platform to formulate and express their common position on European issues relating to human and animal medicine, biomedical research, education and health; and to ‘extend’ the consultative role that they exercise in their countries on these issues to the European level.

IAP - InterAcademy Partnership

Under the umbrella of the InterAcademy Partnership (IAP), more than 140 national, regional and global academies work together to support the vital role of science in finding evidence-based solutions to the world's most complex problems.

Specifically, IAP leverages the expertise of the world's scientific, medical, and engineering leaders to advance sound policies, improve public health, promote excellence in science education, and achieve other critical development goals.

IAP includes more than 30,000 scientists, engineers and health professionals from over 100 countries.

One of the core points of IAP's mission is to reach out to society and participate in discussions on critical global issues in which science plays a crucial role, and - since its inception in 1993 - IAP has produced statements on issues of fundamental importance for humanity.

These statements, which are published only after being approved by a majority of IAP members, not only reflect the major issues facing society, but are also evidence of IAP's ongoing commitment to society.

Further information about IAP is available on the website , on Twitter @IAPartnership , on LinkedIn and YouTube .
