Accademia Nazionale di Medicina (AccMed) is a non-profit scientific association that has been involved in the training and updating of healthcare professionals since 1991. In 1994 it was recognized by the Ministry of Health as an 'institution suitable for providing technical-scientific consultancy regarding the updating and information of doctors on drugs', while in 1995 the Ministry of Education, University and Research recognized AccMed’s legal personality. AccMed is National CME Provider No. 31, founding member of the European Federation of Medical Academies (FEAM), represents Italy in the health and medicine section of the InterAcademy Partnership (IAP ), which brings together 149 academies from all over the world, and is a partner of the Unitelma Sapienza online university.
Activities
In its 40 years of activity - if one also considers the previous experience gained in the Higher School of Oncology and Biomedical Sciences of Santa Margherita (GE) - AccMed has established itself in particular in the field of specialist medicine and in the management of health services.
AccMed has been a Continuing Medical Education (CME) provider since the experimental start-up phase in 2001 and today it is included in the Register of National CME Providers, with the number 31.
In addition, AccMed promotes projects in which different scientific, methodological and technical elements are integrated to create educational initiatives on social-health issues that are shared with other European countries.
Programming
Every year the educational proposals and projects in the three main lines of activity developed by AccMed - in-class training (RES), distance learning (FAD), publishing/multimedia - are shared with the AccMed Scientific Experts Committee in order to define a calendar of high quality educational projects in line with relevant standards and regulations (particularly the CME rules).
The AccMed staff - with skills and experience in training, communication, logistics, publishing, IT, graphics and promotion - ensures that the implementation of training and dissemination projects is aligned with the needs expressed by the scientific community.
Collaborations
From a scientific point of view, AccMed has collaborated and continues to collaborate with Italian and European scientific societies, has relationships with health departments of the main regions, with universities and with the major Italian healthcare facilities. It is also part of the European Federation of Medical Academies (FEAM) and of the InterAcademy Partnership (IAP for Health).
At an organizational level, the long term collaboration with Forum Service - for what concerns logistics, technological innovation and editorial production - guarantees reliability and quality to all projects promoted by AccMed.
Quality Management System
AccMed has identified the maintenance and improvement of its Quality and Environmental Management System compliant with the requirements of the UNI EN ISO 9001:2015 and UNI EN ISO 14001:2015 standards as a fundamental tool for achieving its main objective - the dissemination of scientific culture in the medical-health sector.
